Clay Slab Vessel Reflection (3-D): March 26, 2012
The strong parts of my sculpture are the sides of the sculpture which are very semetrical and have smooth corners.
I think I could have done better with this project with making a better use of my time because I kept reshaping the clay when it would not work out the way i wanted it to.
The unity of theme for my sculpture of the night sky because it has one object on a side then it has the same pattern on the opposite side.
The form of my vessel is a smooth opened cube shape so that it can have easy accessability. I think I will keep loose change inside it.
The primary texture of my vessel is smooth. I did this by taking a wet paper towel and rubbing the sides of the sculpture. I did it this way because it will lessen the amount of scratching it could do to the surface it is placed on.
Metacognate: I learned from this project how to balence the amount of clay on each side. This can be applyed to other projects by giving knowledge of how to keep the overall look of the clay uniformed. It can also be applied to life in general by making the bad things in life appear better than they are.
I designed my vessel the way it is so that it would not take up a lot of space and has enough capacity to put things in. This was planned from the start. The final look of this project turned out to look differently than I thought in the begining. The design built into it looks different because the original design was harder to put into the slab so I decided to change it to something that was easier but something that I would still be satisfied with.
